Course overview

Donna Zander & Associates is an Accredited Social Worker by AASWJoin us for our first ever conference in Suva, Fiji where an engaging collection of Australian and international presenters will explore the world of trauma and play therapy. Donna Zander Qura & Apakuki Qura (Australia/ Fiji), Josephine Martin (Australia), Dr.Brandy Schumann (U.S.A), Yael Livneh (Israel), Claudio Mochi(Italy), Isabella Cassina (Switzerland), Dr.James Lucas (Australia), Antoinette Braybrook (Australia), Sister Lorraine Garusso (Bougainville) and Rosie Catherine (Fiji) will present over the two days with a two day workshop series to follow on specialised topics. The Conference Dinner on Monday evening is included - it will be traditional Fijian Lovo with a Meke celebration and entertainment by local artist Liam Rae.

Learning outcomes

To learn the knowledge and skills to respond to trauma of natural disasters, war, family violence, suicide and marital affairs including: understanding the neuro biological response. To learn creative play therapy skills to use to respond to trauma including the methods of: filial (caregivers and children) and water based. To understand the relationship between spirituality and trauma. To incorporate western and traditional islander practices into responses to mental health and trauma. We will aim to engage participants in developing innovative, culturally sensitive and evidence-based responses to traumatic natural and human-made events.
